TIOGA COUNTY — Tuesday is usually the busiest day of the week when it comes to area sports and today is no exception. There are a dozen events on the schedule, including one apiece in Candor, Newark Valley and Spencer, and three in Owego.
BOYS SOCCER
Owego (2-1) at Chenango Valley (2-1), 7 p.m.: The River Hawks hit the road to take on the rival Warriors.
CROSS COUNTRY
Newark Valley at Groton, 5 p.m.: The Cardinals travel to Stone Hedges Golf Course for a 6-team IAC meet.
S-VE at Edison, 5 p.m.: The Panthers head to the historic Newtown Battlefield for a 5-team IAC meet. NOTE: Candor has canceled out of this event.
FIELD HOCKEY
Maine-Endwell at SVEC (1-2), 4:30 p.m.: The Eagles look to bounce back following a loss to Class A state champion Vestal.
Tioga (0-2) at Owego (1-1), 6:45 p.m.: The River Hawks and Tigers look to rebound from recent setbacks.
GIRLS SOCCER
Elmira Notre Dame (2-1) at Newark Valley (3-2), 4:30 p.m.: ND is trying to bounce back from a loss while NV is coming off a victory.
SVEC (0-2) at Trumansburg (3-0), 4:30 p.m.: The Eagles hit the road to face the unbeaten Blue Raiders.
GIRLS SWIMMING & DIVING
Oneonta at Owego, 6 p.m.: It’s the season opener for the Yellowjackets, who face a small River Hawks team coming off a solid showing at the Wolverine Invitational.
VOLLEYBALL
Odessa-Montour (0-2) at Candor (2-0), 6:30 p.m.: The Coyotes are off to an impressive start while the Grizzlies have been struggling.
Chenango Forks at Owego, 6:30 p.m.: The River Hawks have swept their first two opponents while Forks has split a pair of 3-set matches.
