IAC VOLLEYBALL: S-VE RALLIES PAST GROTON, 3-1 (2023-09-11)

TIOGA CENTER — The S-VE volleyball team got off to a bit of a slow start, but regrouped to defeat Groton, 3-1, in IAC Small School action Monday evening.

The Indians took the opening set, 25-20, but the next three were dominated by Spencer, 25-13, 25-10 and 25-6.

“The team started the night a bit over-confident,” S-VE coach Charity Meyers said. “They weren't playing their game and ended up losing the first set. After the first set loss, they pulled it together and finished the night strong.”

Faith Brenchley paced the Panthers with a double-double, dishing out 19 assists and serving up 13 points, including seven aces. She also had five digs and two kills.

Jackie Brown had nine points, one ace and six digs; CeCe Churey pumped out 12 points, five aces, a kill and a dig; Aryonnah Disbrow added eight points and an ace; and Kaili Root chipped in with three points, three aces and four kills.

Makana Diboun added four points, two aces and four kills; Adriena Farmer scored 10 kills and two digs; Lilyanah Doolittle had six points, an ace and five kills; and Hannah Smith and Summer Taylor tacked on one kill each.

JV: S-VE won by scores of 25-13 and 25-15, and also won the exhibition third game, 25-11.

Trinity Dashler served 14 points to include five aces, and had three kills, three assists and two digs; Mya Grant contributed three points and one dig; Reece Hickey had nine points, three aces and one dig; Josalyn Irvin recorded an ace, two kills and three digs; and Amani Diboun added one point, one kill and two digs.

Andralyn Wallace scored 11 points, four aces and two digs; Eighmee Slusser had six points, and ace and two kills; Katelynn VanEtten pitched in with two kills and a dig; Vivienne Secondo and Elizabeth Ortolaza had a pair of digs apiece; and Kelsea Swayze tacked on three points, two aces and three digs.

S-VE (3-0) hosts Union Springs Thursday.
