Jenna DiNardo post numbers on the lacrosse field in 2023 that are nearly beyond comprehension. She is
The Sports Reports' 2023 All-Region Girls “
Athlete of the Spring.”
DiNardo
had an offensive season like none ever before in the area, scoring 98
goals and registering 44 assists. Her 142 points led the Lady Hawks to a
Section IV title.
More impressive, DiNardo, who will be attending the University of Virginia in the fall, did it in just 17 games.
DiNardo topped 200 career goals and 300 career points this year.

The 2023 Baker’s Dozen Girls Athletes of the Spring
Jenna DiNardo, senior, Corning — lacrosse: See above.
Mackenzi Tice, junior, NP-Liberty — softball: Tice
went 19-1 in the circle for the Lady Mounties, throwing 136 innings
with a 1.24 ERA and 195 strikeouts. At the plate, Tice hit .484 with a
.505 on-base-percentage, 46 base hits (13 doubles and one home run), 33
runs scored and 21 RBI for the NTL and District 4 Champion Lady
Mounties.
Annie Gehman, sophomore, Wellsboro — track & field:
Gehman won an NTL and a District 4 title in the triple jump and was a
consistent points-winner in both the long jump (fourth at the NTL
Championships, 13th at District 4 meet) and the high jump (third at
NTLs).
Brea Overpeck, senior, Towanda — softball: Overpeck
set the school record in home runs with 10, while also hitting .515 on
the year. Her two home runs in the district playoff game against
Loyalsock was one of the best performances in the program’s history.
Gracelyn Laudermilch, sophomore, Northeast Bradford — track & field:
Laudermilch earned a state medal in the 3,200-meter run, a state berth
in the 1,600, and medaled in the open 800 and 4x800 at the District 4
meet. She also won a district title in the 3,200-meter run.
Keri Wesneski, senior, Canton — softball:
Wesneski led Canton to a district final, hitting .545 on the year with
39 RBI, while striking out 144 from the circle, with a 2.36 ERA in 122
innings.
Alexandra Senko, senior, Owego — track & field:
Alexandra Senko was a hurdler and triple jumper, who also ran the
4-x-400 relay, posted 18 regular-season victories, was a
quadruple-winner at the Section IV Class B championships and had a trio
of top-three showings at the STAC championships.
At the state
qualifier, she placed second in Division II in the triple jump (third
overall), third in the 100-meter hurdles (fourth overall), seventh in
the 400 hurdles and ninth in the 4x400 relay.
Stella Palladino, freshman, Owego — track & field:
Palladino registered 18 regular-season wins, was the Class B champion
in the 100, 200 and 4x400 relay, and a STAC runner-up in the 100. She
also competed in the 400 and had several victories. At the state
qualifier, she was second in Division II, but met the qualifying
standard to advance to the state meet where she beat four higher-seeded
opponents.
Payton Ross, senior, Elmira — flag football and softball: Ross threw for 1,462 yards and 17 TDs, completing 56 percent of her passes, and also ran for 968 yards and 12 touchdowns.
On
the softball diamond, Ross hit .419, with two home runs, and two
doubles. In the pitcher’s circle, she had a 2.84 ERA with 70 strikeouts
in 56 2/3 innings.
Gabby Milazzo, junior, Edison, softball:
Milazzo went 10-2 on the mound with a 1.65 ERA, 116 strikeouts and just
19 walks in 89 innings. She had zero errors on the season. At the plate,
she hit .475, with a .536 on base percentage, 24 RBI and struck out
just twice all year.
Vicky Mordvinova, senior — Elmira, track and field:
A state medalist in the 1,500 and a state-qualifier in the 800 meters,
Mordvinova had the best time in the area in both the 800 (2:11.59) and
1,500 (4:32.91).
Sarah Lawson, junior, Corning — track and field:
Lawson was a state medalist in the 3,000 meters, finishing third in
NYSPHSAA Division I in 9:47.87. She was a seventh-place finisher in the
5,000 meters at Nationals. She was also a state qualifier in the 3,200
relay, running the second best time in the area this year in the event
(2:22.96).
Sara Bronson, sophomore, Athens — track & field:
Bronson had the fourth fastest time in the state — a school-record time
of 11:13.44 — in the 3,200-meter run heading into the PIAA, Class AA
Track & Field Championships. She finished 13th at States in
11:36.78.
Bronson earned her trip to States with a second-place
finish in the 3,200-meter run at the District 4 Championships, and
placed sixth in the 1,600-meter run. She also ran on the 3,200-meter
relay that placed sixth at Districts in the 3,200-meter relay.
