COLLEGE CHEERLEADING: CANDOR’S PORRAS SIGNS WITH GANNON UNIVERSITY (2023-06-16)

CANDOR — Angelina Porras will continue her education and cheerleading career at Gannon University, having signed to attend the Erie, Pennsylvania school Tuesday.

The school caught her attention with its educational offerings and family atmosphere.

“I chose Gannon because of how seriously they take their academics,” she said. “It felt like I could succeed in the classroom and on the cheer team.

“Another reason I chose Gannon was because of how much they felt like a family. They were all so supportive for everyone on the team.”

She believes her gymnastics background will be a plus for the Golden Knights.

“I am able to offer my tumbling experience and knowledge,” she said. “As a gymnastics instructor as well as a past gymnast, my tumbling skills will really help out the team scoring-wise.”

The Knights’ competitive season runs in February and March with the NCA & NDA College Nationals being held in early April.

Porras will study Occupational Therapy.
