COLLEGE TRACK & FIELD: CANDOR’S JENSEN WINS NATIONAL TITLE; NAMED TOP CONFERENCE, REGION PERFORMER (2023-06-14)

GENESEO — Candor grad Lance Jensen captured a national championship in the 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships May 27.

He was also named the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's Niagara Region Track Athlete of the Year on May 23 and the State University of New York Athletic Conference’s top male track athlete on June 8.

At nationals, the sophomore broke the SUNY Geneseo and SUNYAC records. He posted a time of 51.73 seconds in the preliminaries May 25, then clocked 50.63 seconds in the finals two days later.

Jensen, who also won the SUNYAC 100 (:10.68) and 200 (:21.64) titles, was named the SUNYAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year on June 8.

The Knights won their fifth straight and 10th overall SUNYAC men's outdoor track and field titles this season.

In March, Jensen teamed up with Jason Rappazzo, Kieran Sheridan and Jacob Miller to win the 4x400 relay at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships with a time of 3:11.64.
