Tioga County Sports Report
SPENCER — SVEC’s Hunter Harmon will be playing baseball at Mohawk Valley Community College next spring.
The Eagles’ senior signed with the Hawks Tuesday in a dual ceremony which also included teammate Cody Sayre.
“I chose this school because I feel it has a great program, great coaches, and many promising opportunities,” Harmon said.
His coaches believe he has a lot of talent to offer the program.
“Hunter has a live arm and is a solid infielder,” coach Cliff Pierce said. “He rarely gets rattled and consistently makes the best play in any given situation.
“As a pitcher, Hunter has a variety of pitches that he throws well. He uses his pitch variety to keep hitters off balance.
“At the plate, Hunter made great strides this year. He hit the ball hard and became a strong adversary for opposing pitchers.”
“Hunter Harmon has worked hard to become one of the best pitchers in the IAC and in Section IV,” coach David Swayze said. “He is confident in his play and rarely gets frustrated. Hunter can also play every other position on the field.
“He is just tapping into all that he has and I look forward to seeing what he does at the college level.”
“I have lots of talent, a good work ethic, discipline, and a lot of confidence,” said Harmon, and, “I have a unique style of play.”
In the classroom, he will be concentrating on General Studies.
