OWEGO — Owego’s Peyton Farrell plans to continue his baseball career at Clarkson University, having signed with the Golden Knights at a mass signing ceremony Tuesday.

The left fielder/pitcher knew in an instant he wanted to be a Golden Knight.

“Right when I walked on Clarkson’s campus, it just felt like home,” he said. “Some sort of connection hit me.”

“Peyton is going to bring a competitive attitude and good work ethic to the program up at Clarkson,” Owego head coach Nick Wegmann said. “We are very excited to follow him and watch his career pan out up there.”

Owego’s impressive 13-5 campaign this spring has infected Farrell with winning fever.

“I want to win and continue to grow and develop for the next four years,” he said.

As a leadoff hitter, Farrell delivered a .292 average (19-for-65) for the Indians, scored 18 runs and drove in 18 more. He drew a dozen walks and struck out just four times, and never more than once in any game.

He plans on attending Clarkson, not just to get his Bachelor’s, but to go a fifth year and attain his Master of Business Administration as well.
