OWEGO — The Robert Morris University bowling program has picked up another standout from Owego.

Cole Dalton committed to the Colonials during a mass signing Tuesday, making him the second Indian Kegler to join RMU in the past 13 months.

Dalton selected Robert Morris “because they have a strong bowling program and I would love to contribute,” he said.

“Robert Morris is getting someone who is dedicated to bowling and only wants to get better,” Owego head coach Rusty Virkler said. “He loves to bowl and I know he is going to work super hard to achieve his goals and make an impact on the team.

Dalton will reunite with former teammate Tyler Taft, who committed to the RMU program last May.

“I think it will be awesome for him and Tyler Taft to be teammates again and learn from one another,” Virkler said. “I’m excited to see what Cole does at the collegiate level. I wish him the best of luck.”

Dalton, who was a state qualifier in 2022, feels he has what it takes to make a positive contribution to the Colonials.

“Given I’m one of the most consistent bowlers in the section I hope to bring my consistency and leadership skills to help the bowling program at RMU flourish,” he said.

Dalton will study Sports Management.

RMU, located near Pittsburgh, is coached by Owego Free Academy alumnus John Michalenko.
