SECTION IV TRACK & FIELD: OWEGO GIRLS WIN CLASS B TITLE (2023-05-24)

VESTAL — The Owego girls team won the Section IV Class B track & field championship Tuesday scoring 139 points to outdistance rival Maine-Endwell by 22 points.

“Everybody stepped up and performed at their best to help the team win,” Owego coach Scott Senko said.

Alexandra Senko won four events to lead the charge — the 100- and 400-meter hurdles, the triple jump and 4x400 relay. She recorded times of 17.18 seconds and 1:11.18, respectively, in the hurdle events, and leapt 34-7 ¼ in the triple jump.

Stella Palladino won the 100 and 200 and the relay. Her sprint times were :13.32 in the 100 and :27.37 in the 200.

Jaelyn Chrysler won the 1500 with a time of 5:06.28 and the 3000 in 10:57.94.

Sidney Senko and Emily Dodge rounded out the 4x400 relay, which posted a time of 4:34.63. Senko was also a runner-up in the 400 (1:07.89).

Taylor Dalton placed second in the long jump at 15-6 and was third in the 100 (:13.8).

Abigail Fahey took third in the 800 (2:42.6) and Ava Brown was third in the shot put (29-10 ½).

The 4x800 relay of Abigail McHugh, Lilly LaFever, Cameron Pichany and Fahey claimed third place as well (11:17.11).

BOYS
Winners on the boys side were Jace Stuart in the 3200, Sully O’Donnell in the 3000 steeplechase and Caleb Hoover in the discus.

Stuart clocked 10:09.43 and O’Donnell had a 10:39.02 while Hoover heaved the discus 132-8.

Gabe Snyder cleared 13-7 in the pole vault to place second and Sam Cunningham came in third at 10-6.

The 4x800 relay of Stuart, Jaxson Belokur, Christian Hodges and Ruben Lemmon took second with a time of 8:54.07.

Evan Wasieleski was third in the 110 hurdles in 17.61 seconds.

Owego was fourth with 73 points, just two points back of third-place Johnson City. Vestal won the team title with 178 points and Norwich was second with 140.
