IAC BOYS GOLF: CANDOR WINS SMALL SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIP; BANKS CAPTURES MEDALIST HONOR (2022-03-24)

HORSEHEADS — Jacob Banks shot a 7-over-par 78 at Soaring Eagles Golf Course to lead Candor to the IAC Small School and overall championships Tuesday.
The Indians, fresh off their Section IV Class D title Monday, shot a 330 to best runner-up Union Springs / Port Byron by 18 strokes. They also bested Large School champ Lansing by 32 strokes.
S-VE was seventh in Small School with a 427 and Newark Valley was fifth in Large School with a 482.
SMALL SCHOOL
Jacob Banks’ round included a birdie on the par-4, 357-yard fifth hole.
Candor’s Taylor Brock placed fourth with an 82 and Noah Banks was fifth with an 83. Noah Banks birdied No. 15 and 16. The 15th hole is a 162-yard par-3 and the 16th is a 413-yard par-4.
Tyler Greeno rounded out the Indians’ team scoring with an 87, good for eighth.
Addison Young and Kody Floyd added non-scoring rounds of 104 and 115, good for 22nd and 36th, respectively. Young had a birdie on the par-4, 371-yard third hole
For the Panthers, Nathan Gillette carded a 93 to place 13th.
Tyler Fedenko shot 104 to take 24th, Bryce Grant took 32nd with a 109 and Jayden Stone was 40th with a 121.
John Hastings was 41st with a 125 and Jacek Stahl took 46th with a 128.
LARGE SCHOOL
NV’s Gavin Mann finished eighth in Large School with a 96.
Isaiah Young claimed the 24th spot with a 120, Corbin Swindler was 34th with a 133 and Justin Bowen was 35th at 133,
