COLLEGE BASKETBALL: SVE’S BUNCE SIGNS WITH SALEM UNIVERSITY (2023-05-17)

SPENCER — Abby Bunce has been a key contributor to the S-VE girls basketball program during her high school career. Now, she will take her game to the next level.

Bunce has signed to attend Salem University in Salem, Massachusetts. She will join the Vikings, who compete in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Salem finished in the middle of the seven-team league this past season, going 6-6 (11-15 overall) and placed three players on the all-conference team, two who will be returning next season.

Bunce feels the Vikings offer an “up-and-coming program,” but there’s more than basketball drawing Bunce to Salem

“(It’s a) great city and community, growing basketball program and lots of career opportunities,” she said.

At S-VE, she was named to the IAC South Small School second team as a junior when the Panthers won their division during the 2021-22 and the first team this past season.

Bunce is also a two-time All-Tioga County selection, making the first team this past season after receiving an honorable mention during the 2021-22 campaign.

She's going to bring a good work ethic and a great post presence. She's one of the best players I've ever had finishing with either hand. She also will bring a great defense presence down low and on the boards.

Bunce will be double majoring in criminal justice and biology at Salem.
