IAC SOFTBALL: SVEC DROPS WILD ONE AGAINST TIOGA (2023-04-28)

SPENCER — SVEC and Tioga combined for 38 runs Thursday as the Tigers rallied to post a 22-16 IAC softball victory.
In a game which featured 24 hits and 29 walks, the Eagles managed to hold Tioga to two runs through the first four innings.
Meanwhile, SVEC took advantage of a Jill Holmes double, three singles, two walks and a hit batter to score six runs in the bottom of the second and grab a 7-2 lead.
The Eagles added a pair of runs in the fourth on three walks and two hit batters to push their advantage to 9-2.
The Tigers exploded for nine runs in the top of the fifth, but SVEC responded with four runs in its half of the inning to go back ahead, 13-11. Katelyn Klym smacked a 3-run double to highlight the Eagle effort.
A pair of walks with the bases loaded and a two-run single by Megan Vance helped the Tigers work a 15-13 lead.
Holmes belted an RBI-triple and Klym followed with a run-scoring single to knot the score at 15 heading into the seventh.
Tioga collected seven walks, and with the help of two base hits and an error, piled up seven runs, then held the Eagles to one run in their final at-bats.
Holmes went 2-for-4 with three runs and six RBI, and Klym was 3-for-3 with a run and five RBI. Adriena Farmer was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Faith Brenchley scored four runs and drove in another, and Raegan Sudnikovich scored twice. Roni Presher contributed a hit and a run, and Grace Handy added a hit and an RBI. Mikayla Duncan, Ciara Peterson and Cheylee Campbell tacked on one run apiece.
NOTRE DAME 14, SVEC 3
The Crusaders, ranked fourth among the state’s Class C teams, broke a 2-2 deadlock with five runs in the bottom of the third Wednesday.
A Sudnikovich leadoff single, followed by a walk to Holmes, preceded Presher’s two-run double to give the Eagles an early 2-0 advantage.
SVEC made it a 3-1 game in the top of the third after Sudnikovich walked and Holmes rapped an RBI double.
Presher went 2-for-3 with two RBI, Sudnikovich was 2-for-3 with two runs, and Holmes was 1-for-2 with a run and RBI.
