STAC SOFTBALL: 5TH, 6TH INNING STRUGGLES COSTLY FOR OWEGO (2023-04-18)

WINDSOR — Owego gave up 10 runs over a span of two innings, but just one was earned, as Windsor rallied to defeat the Indians, 10-2, in STAC softball action Tuesday.
The Black Knights took advantage of a double by Alexis Durdon, as well as two singles, two sacrifice bunts, two errors and a walk to grab a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the fifth.
In the sixth, the home team received a triple from Durdon, and also used a single, two walks, a hit batter and an error to make it a 10-2 contest.
Anna Finn and Paige Smith contributed two hits apiece as well to the victory.
Durdon, who was 2-for-3 with three RBI, was solid in the circle as well. She surrendered four hits and three walks while striking out 14.
The Indians scored twice in their first at-bats.
Miley Laubach walked and moved to second on a Layla Etienne single, and both players moved up on a Brooklyn Gaurnier ground out. Sarah drilled a ground ball single to left to bring Laubach and Etienne home.
Natalie Donovan and Jordan Greeno had Owego’s other hits.
Carsten Crawford went five innings in the circle for Owego and gave up five runs, just one being earned. Chelsea Rollison pitched the sixth, giving up five earned runs.
Owego (1-2) hosts Oneonta (3-3) Wednesday.
