THE SPORTS REPORTS: HORSEHEADS' HUNTLEY NAMED 'GIRLS BOWLER OF YEAR' — TIOGA COUNTY PLACES NINE ON ALL-REGION TEAMS (2023-03-28)

Horseheads’ Emily Huntley finished with the top average among area bowlers, and finished second in the state to earn The Sports Report All-Region "Girls Bowler of the Year" honors and headline the All-Region team.

Huntley had a 212.11 average, the only bowler in the region to average over 200, and then she averaged over 220 at the state meet to earn a state silver medal.

She had a high game this year of 277 and a 719 high series.

The "Newcomer of the Year" is Abigail Hink of Elmira. Hink had a 166 average this year and helped lead Elmira to a title at the state qualifier and then to a fifth-place finish at states.

Elmira coach Tim Crout is the "Coach of the Year" after guiding the Express to a fifth-place finish at states.

The first team includes Huntley and Hink along with Horseheads’ Mackenzie Minor, Madison Smith of Elmira, Janelle Marsh of SVEC, Shantilly Decker, Victoria Houseknecht and Rachel Houseknecht of Waverly; Hayle Avery of Elmira; Briannah Evans and Hanna Millhollen of Corning.

The second team includes Tioga’s Chloe Gillette, SVEC’s Kaitlyn Floyd, Elmira’s Arabella Wood, Oweg’s Haley Stephens, Waverly’s Serenity Conklin, Abigail Cunningham of Elmira, Jade Nordin of Notre Dame, Caroline Chapman of Tioga and Horseheads’ Jennifer Mattison and Maddie Jerzak.
