COLLEGE SOFTBALL: CANDOR GRAD CURKENDALL CONTRIBUTES TO ELMIRA COLLEGE SWEEP (2023-03-26)

HORSEHEADS — Candor grad Asia Curkendall went 3-for-4, scored five runs and drove in three more as Elmira College swept Alfred State, 9-1 and 10-2, Wednesday.

The sophomore third baseman walked, stole second, advanced to third and scored on a double in the first inning. She added an RBI sacrifice fly in the second and singled, stole second and scored in the fourth in the opener.

In the nightcap, Curkendall wrapped a pair of singles in the third and sixth around a walk in the fifth, and scored each time.

She was also perfect in the field with a pair of putouts in the first game and three assists in the second.

On Friday, Curkendall scored three runs, and had three putouts and 10 assists in a doubleheader split with RIT

For the season, Curkendall is hitting .208 (5-for-24) in 10 games. She has eight runs and three RBI, and is 7-for-7 in stolen bases. She has an .927 fielding percentage with 11 putouts and 27 assists.
