COLLEGE SOFTBALL: NEWARK VALLEY’S WANDELL SHIFTS FROM BASKETBALL TO SOFTBALL (2023-03-15)

FREDONIA, N.Y. — Newark Valley grad and two-sport athlete Allie Wandell has shifted her focus from basketball to softball at Fredonia University.

A shortstop/second baseman, the sophomore is hitting .364 (8-for-22) with a triple, double, two runs, two RBI and one stolen base.

She has an .857 fielding percentage with 11 putouts and seven assists, and has been involved in one double play.

On the basketball court, Wandell started the final 12 games of the season and scored 90 points, including seven 3-pointers, and grabbed 91 rebounds. She recorded a season-high 10 points against Brockport and pulled down a season-hgh 14 boards against Buffalo State. She also had 15 assists, nine steals and six blocks.
