HORSEHEADS’ COLE NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM BOYS REGIONAL “ATHLETE OF THE WEEK”
The things that Cullin Cole did at the New York State Swimming & Diving Championships are things that no one at Horseheads had done in nearly 40 years.

Cole became the first state champion swimmer at Horseheads since 1986 when he won the state and federation titles in the 50-yard freestyle. He also became an automatic All-American with a time of 20.44 seconds, becoming the school’s first swimming All-American since 1986.

Cole broke school records in the 50 and 100 free, and also helped the 200 and 400 free relays break school records. His time in the 100 free broke a school record that had stood since 1983.

Cole was fourth in the state in the 100 and the 400 free relay took seventh, while the 200 free relay was 11th. Cole won three state medals on Saturday and has won seven in the past two years.
