YOUTH BASKETBALL: SEVEN WINNERS CROWNED AT TIOGA COUNTY KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS FREE THROW CHAMPIONSHIPS (2023-01-31)

TIOGA CENTER — Seven boys and girls won Council Level Championships here recently at the 8th annual Tioga County Knights of Columbus Free Throw championships, held in honor of longtime youth basketball coach Dan Manwaring.

The winners, ages 9 to 13, will advance to the Chapter Level Championship at McQuaid JesuitHigh School in Rochester in mid-March, with an eye on moving to the Regional level at Bishop Ludden High School in Syracuse in late March, and ultimately to the New York State Championship at West Point in April.

This year’s winners at Tioga were:

•  Scarlett Ecker, age 9 — made 4 of 15;
•  Landon Carlucci, 9 — 10 of 15;
•  Brayden Thornton, 10 — 6 of 15;
•  Gabrielle James, 12 — 5 of 15;
•  Maddux Dyson, 12 — 8 of 15
•  Nick Robbins, 13 — 9 of 15;
•  Raegan Foley, 14 — 2 of 15.
