OWEGO / NORWICH — Owego split a pair of STAC JV boys basketball games with Norwich and Chenango Valley, defeating the Purple Tornado on the road Jan. 20 and falling to CV at home Friday.

Owego 64, Norwich 52
The Indians broke open a tight game behind a 25-point third-quarter surge with seven players putting points on the scoreboard.

Zack Bensley led the team with 19 points, going 7-for-10 at the free throw line, and Duke Snyder added 14, including a pair of 3-pointers.

King Brainard added nine points and Nick Brown had five, with each draining a trey. Carter Rieg, Cal Smith and Danny Tavelli chipped in with four points apiece, Matt Higgins added three and Hunter Slater had two.

Kassan Stubb pumped out 31 points for Norwich.

Chenango Valley 53, Owego 37
The Warriors opened the game with a pair of 18-5 periods, then sealed the win with a 20-point third quarter.

Nate Marino and Jimmy Fitzgerald scored 19 and 13 points, respectively, to lead the CV effort.

Rieg led the Indians with 10, including two threes and Higgins added a trey as he scored eight points. Bensley added six points and Snyder had five. Brainard, Slater, Smith and Tavelli scored two apiece.
