IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: NEWARK VALLEY ROUTS EDISON, 73-17 (2023-01-29)

NEWARK VALLEY — Newark Valley opened with a 20-0 first-quarter blitz and never looked back to defeat Edison 73-17 in IAC South Large School action Saturday.

Joe Rombach led the early charge with a pair of 3-pointers and finished the game with 11 points, one of four Cardinals to hit double digits in the scoring column.

Ryan Rhodes led the way with 16 markers, Dan Truesdail added 13 and Danny Pirger tacked on 10.

NV led 38-7 at the break and 61-12 through three periods of play.

Jaden Short contributed six points to the victory, Matt Keller had five, and Ryan Chandler, Troy Middendorf and Ladson Spoonhower chipped in with four points each.

Newark Valley improved to 3-7 in the division and evened its overall record at 7-7. Edison is 0-14 and 0-8 in the division.

The Cardinals host Chenango Valley (8-7) in non-league action Tuesday.
