IAC GIRLS BASKETBALL: BEEBE, GARDNER PACE NEWARK VALLEY TO 15-0 START (2023-01-27)

ELMIRA HEIGHTS — Hayley Beebe was hot from long range and Cha Gardner added another double-double to her resume as Newark Valley improved to 15-0 with a 52-38 IAC South Large School girls basketball victory over Edison Friday.

Beebe shot 45 percent (5-for-11) from 3-point land, all in the first half, and finished the game with 17 points. She also grabbed six rebounds, dished out five assists, and added a block and a steal.

Gardner hauled down 18 boards to go with her 16 points. She also rejected eight shots, and had five steals and three assists.

The Cardinals, now 10-0 in division play, ran out to a 33-13 halftime advantage and cruised the rest of the way.

Kalyna Graham chipped in with eight points and two boards; and Jasmine Graham added seven points, three rebounds, two steals and a block.

Adriana Rich had two points, two boards and a block; Adrianna Finta had two points and two boards; Aubrey Kwiatkowski added three steals and two rebounds; Faith Payne grabbed a pair of boards; and Katie Berghorn and Liv Short tacked on one rebound each.

The Spartans’ Payton Littlefield canned two treys and finished with a game-high 18 points.

NV hosts Union-Endicott Wednesday in a battle of state-ranked teams.
