IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: HEIDL, SOPER DOUBLE-DOUBLES HIGHLIGHT CANDOR VICTORY OVER S-VE (2023-01-27)

CANDOR — Jadon Heidl and Zeb Soper recorded double-doubles to highlight Candor’s 56-39 IAC South Small School boys basketball victory over S-VE Friday night.

Heidl scored 15 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, and grabbed 10 rebounds. He also had two steals and an assist.

Soper added 10 points and 10 boards, to go with three assists and three rebounds. He made all six of his free throw attempts, each coming in the first quarter.

The Indians worked a 19-12 first-period advantage and extended their lead to 33-19 at the break. They led 45-28 heading into the final stanza.

Lucas Heidl contributed 14 points to the win, and also had six boards, four steals, two blocks and an assist.

Cooper Thayer added six points, eight boards, three assists and a steal; Jacek Teribury chipped in with six points, four rebounds and a steal; David Vega hit a trey and grabbed three boards; Tra Avion Payne added two points, three rebounds and an assist; Jacob Banks handed out two assists; Levi Anderson had a steal and Cam Cody tacked on a rebound.

Hunter Harmon led the Panthers with a dozen points, which included a pair of 3-balls. Nathan Gillette, Jacek Stahl and Pavel Jofre scored nine, seven and five points, respectively, and each one had a 3-pointer to his credit. Cody Sayre added four points and Caden McFall had two.

On Tuesday, Candor (10-6) hosts Groton and S-VE (1-11) heads to Odessa-Montour.
