IAC JV BOYS BASKETBALL: HOT START PROPELS CANDOR PAST MARATHON (2023-01-26)

CANDOR — Candor was hot out of the gate Tuesday, scoring 21 points en route to a 56-47 victory over Marathon in IAC JV boys basketball action.

Carson Heidl scored 10 points to lead the surge as the Indians jumped on a 21-10 cushion after one quarter of play.

The Olympians trimmed the gap to 33-26 at the break, but Candor took a 46-37 advantage into the final stanza and the visitors were unable to gain any ground.

Heidl pumped out 29 points on the night to go with six rebounds, four steals a block and two assists while Ryan Huizinga pulled down 13 rebounds, and added eight points, two steals and one assist.

Donnie Mackie scored eight points, grabbed four boards and dished out one assist; and Zach Lang knocked down a pair of 3-pointers, to go with four boards, four steals and three assists.

Cam Sinn added four points, three steals, two assists and two rebounds; and Noah Banks had one point, four rebounds and an assist.

Austin Poth led Marathon with 12 points, canning two treys in the process.
