IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: CANDOR PULLS AWAY FROM MARATHON (2023-01-24)

CANDOR — Moving its game against Marathon up a day didn’t seem to faze Candor as the Indians pulled away early for a 63-35 victory in IAC boys basketball crossover action Tuesday.

Jadon Heidl scored nine of his game-high 19 points in the second quarter as Candor turned a one-point edge into a 26-15 halftime advantage.

Jacek Teribury pumped out 10 points in a 16-11 third-period surge.

In the final frame, Jadon Heidl knocked down a pair of 3-pointers while Lucas Heidl went 5-for-6 at the free throw line to ensure the Olympians would not rally.

The Indians posted one of their better nights at the charity stripe, going 12-for-16.

Zeb Soper recorded another double-double for Candor with 10 points and 12 rebounds. He also dished out seven assists and blocked two shots.

Jadon Heidl added four steals, two rebounds, a block and an assist to his scoring effort while Lucas Heidl contributed 14 points, six boards, two steals and one assist.

Teribury popped for a dozen points, all in the second half, to go with three steals, two rebounds and one assist.

Cooper Thayer pitched in with six points, three rebounds, two two steals, a block and an assist; and Jakobe Foster tacked on two points, two boards, two assists and a steal.

Bryce Hartman led Marathon with 14 points and Connor Holland added 10 more.

Candor (9-6, 5-4) hosts S-VE (1-9, 0-8) in IAC South Small School action Friday.
