SECTION IV GIRLS BASKETBALL: OWEGO SPREADS THE WEALTH IN WIN OVER S-VE (2023-01-24)

SPENCER — Every Owego player got in on the scoring as the Indians defeated S-VE, 55-19, in non-league girls basketball action Tuesday.

Owego blanked the Panthers in the first quarter, 12-0, and led 28-3 at halftime. The Indians outscored S-VE, 15-10 in the third quarter to build a 43-13 cushion heading into the final stanza.

Maddie Bennett knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and led all scorers with 10 points. She also had three assists, two steals and two rebounds.

Lexi Herceg contributed nine points, one assist, three steals and two rebounds; Cassie Doane pitched in with eight points, one steal, four rebounds and one block; and Madison McEvoy had seven points, including a trey, six assists, five steals, two rebounds and three blocks.

Taylor Dalton added six points, four assists, five steals and three rebounds; Ava Brown recorded six points, one assist and three rebounds; Oriah Boland had four points, two assists and two steals; Kayla Newman added three points, one assist, one steal and six rebounds; and Stella Doty tacked on two points.

Gabby Evans led S-VE with five points and drained one trey. Abby Bunce and Raegan Sudnikovich scored four points apiece, Marah Cooper canned a 3-pointer, Adriena Farmer added two points and Aubrie Kastenhuber had one.

Owego (9-5) is back on the road Saturday at Chenango Valley while S-VE (5-7) hosts Candor Friday.
