UNION SPRINGS — Union Springs carried a Class C honorable mention nod into Friday’s game against Candor, but it was the Indians who came away with the win, rallying in the fourth quarter to post a 51-44 IAC boys basketball victory.
Lucas Heidl scored eight points in the final stanza while Jakobe Foster and Zeb Soper split 10 points evenly.
The Wolves grabbed an early 11-8 edge and led at the half, 25-20.
Candor cut the gap to three in the third quarter with a balanced attack.
Soper led the Indians with 15 points, and also had nine rebounds, six assists and a pair of blocks. Lucas Heidl contributed 14 points, five boards and two assists; and Foster chipped in with a dozen points, three rebounds, three steals and two assists.
Jadon Heidl recorded eight points, five rebounds a steal and an assist; Cooper Thayer had two points, two rebounds, a block and a steal; and Jacek Teribury added three boards, two steals and an assist.
The Wolves’ Damon Brown led all scorers with 21 points.
Candor (8-6) hosts Marathon (4-8) Wednesday.
