IAC BOWLING: WAVERLY WINS 7 OF 8 POINTS AGAINST NEWARK VALLEY (2023-01-20)
Tioga County Sports ReportNEWARK VALLEY — John Fiacco reeled off three impressive games, but Newark Valley wasn’t able to catch front-running Waverly in an IAC Division 1 bowling battle Thursday.
The Wolverines dropped the first game, but managed to score a 3-1 victory over the second-place Cardinals.
Waverly won the girls match, 4-0.
BOYSFiacco rolled a 215, 242 and 235 for a 692 series.
Tony Zukowski recorded a 238-591 and Brandon Eynon shot 215-550.
John Mincher registered a 188-528, Lane Underwood had a 187-519 and Jon Umiker added a 180-489.
NV won the opening game, 965-900, but Waverly took the next two, 1006-997 and 1064-944, to pull out the total pinfall, 2970-2906.
Ashton Pritchard led the visitors with a 277-678.
GIRLSWaverly won by scores of 913-674, 745-655 and 879-642, and won the total pinfall, 2537-1971.
The Wolverines’ Rachel Houseknecht led the way with a 232-644.
For NV, Rachel Hartman scored a 173-450, Alyssa Brown had a 151-427 and Abigail Dufresne added a 149-403.
Lexi Rosengrant chipped in with a 130-366, Madi Davis added a 125-325 and Cassidy Downey tacked on a 100-281.
Newark Valley is often until Jan. 31 when it hosts Marathon.
