IAC WRESTLING: NEWARK VALLEY MAKES QUICK WORK OF MORAVIA (2023-01-19)

NEWARK VALLEY — Newark Valley bounced back from a tough loss at the Section IV duals to rout Moravia, 66-12, in IAC wrestling action Thursday.

The Cardinals won four bouts by fall, five by forfeit and two by injury default in a dual meet which took about 30 minutes.

Trevor Middendorf led the NV charge, scoring a 29-second pin over the Blue Devils’ Jacob Volles at 110 pounds.

Marcos Escalante decked Iziah Walters in 2:22 at 126.

At 152, Titus Callahan dispatched Devin McCall in 1:18.

Gabe Merrill followed that win with a 1 1/2-minute fall over Logan Wells at 160.

Receiving forfeits were Travis Middendorf (102), Logan Rhodes (132), Peter Basti (172), Seth Northrup (215) and Austin Debolt (285).

Cadin Creeley (138) and Derek Payne (189) won by injury default.

Newark Valley, which is 11-3 in dual meets, heads back to bracket-style competition at the IAC championships Saturday at Waverly.
