CONKLIN — Owego defeated Susquehanna Valley, 76-54, in STAC boys basketball action Tuesday to pick up its 10th victory of the season.

John Bangel scored nine points in a 22-14 first-quarter surge, but the Sabers battled the Indians evenly in the second period to make it 34-26 at halftime.

Owego exploded for 27 points in the third period, with Bangel scoring another nine, pushing its advantage to 61-37 heading into the final eight minutes of play.

Bangel led all scorers with 25 points and went 6-for-7 at the free throw line, and the team was 15-for-19.

Joe Bangel, Riley Loomis and Kam Wicklund scored seven points apiece; and Owen Bronk added six on two of the team’s seven 3-pointers.

Joe Palladino added five points, Lucas Harbol and Talon Schumacher chipped in with four apiece; Ben Rollison had three; and Jack Hoyt, Ryan Pryor, Aaron Riegel and Drew Tavelli tacked on two each.

"Defense for us was suspect, but give SV credit for improved play since early December," Owego coach Chris Evans said. "It was nice to get everyone involved and in the game. John and Joe Bangel dominated inside."

Owego (10-3) travels to Norwich Friday.
