IAC GIRLS SOCCER: NEWARK VALLEY’S MILLER NAMED DIVISION CO-MVP; 7 OTHER CARDINALS EARN HONORS (2022-11-09)

NEWARK VALLEY — Newark Valley senior Emma Miller has been named the co-MVP of the IAC South Large School division.
A forward, Miller scored 16 goals and dished out 15 assists as the Cardinal posted an 11-2-2 record this season.
NV lost to division champion Waverly, but tied the Wolverines later in the season, lost to Section IV Class B champion Chenango Valley in the playoffs and also had a weather-shortened tie with Elmira Notre Dame.
Senior Kathryn Simmons was named a first-team forward. She recorded a team-high 23 goals and had four assists.
Isabella Shiel, a senior, was selected to the first team as a midfielder. She had four goals and four assists.
Another senior, Hayley Beebe scored four goals and added two assists, and was named to the first-team defense.
Kylee Carrier missed her junior year with an injury, but bounced back this season to record 81 saves as NV’s goalkeeper. She set a school record for fewest goals allowed with six and tied the mark for shutouts with 12.
Freshman Aubrey Kwiatkowski was named a second-team midfielder. She had three goals and two assists.
Senior Clara McCloskey and sophomore Adrianna Finta were chosen as second-team defenders. McCloskey posted two goals and three assists while Finta tacked on a goal and an assist.
