TIOGA COUNTY SPORTS REPORT: OWEGO’S ROLLISON, KATCHUK NAMED ‘ATHLETES OF THE WEEK’ (2022-11-06)

Tioga County Sports Report
TIOGA COUNTY — A pair of Owego sophomores, one who excels on the soccer pitch and the other who stars in the pool, have been selected the Tioga County Sports Report “Athletes of the Week.”

OWEGO’S ROLLISON IS BOYS ‘ATHLETE OF THE WEEK’
Ben Rollison, the Indians’ goalkeeper the past two seasons, provided a strong performance in Saturday’s 1-0 overtime loss to two-time defending state champion Skaneateles in the Class B regional final.

He made several impressive saves to send the game into OT. Among them were a takeaway on a throw-in in front of the goal, a diving knockaway, a leaping save and a save of a direct kick.

The lone goal scored against him was a blast into the upper left corner of the goal that most high school keepers would not have been able to defend.

Kaelyn Katchuk won her third consecutive Section IV Class B diving championship Friday. She scored 507.4 points to break two records in the process.

The sophomore surpassed former Owego diver Kailee Payne’s Class B meet mark of 486.95 set in 2018 and the M-E pool record of 470.6 points set by Corning’s Brooke Terwilliger in 2021.

Her score was also the highest in all of Section IV, besting the 500.95 points Terwilliger scored to win this year’s Class A title.
