MAINE — Harley Switzer finished ninth overall to lead the Newark Valley contingent at the Maine-Endwell Cross Country Invitational here Friday.
GIRLS
Switzer recorded a time of 21:50 as NV placed third in the team chase. The Cardinals scored 73 points, trailing only Owego (31) and host M-E (66).
Emma Neno placed 13th (22:24), Brook Illsley was 21st (23:17), Emily LaPorte finished 37th (27:03) and Lizzy Waterman took 39th (27:24).
Also competing for NV was Casidy Downey (41st, 27:33).
BOYS
NV placed eighth in the 19-team meet with 205 points. Owego won the team title with 33 points.
Anvil Illsley set the pace for the Cardinals, finishing 30th in 19:41 while Marcos Escalante came in 39th with a 19:59.
Logan Woodin was 44th (20:31), James Hackett took 67th (22:31) and John Sloughter placed 84th (24:14)
Newark Valley will be the site of two meets next week. The Cardinals host the IAC South divisional meet Tuesday and the Bob Greene Invitational Thursday.
