SECTION IV CROSS COUNTRY: OWEGO BOYS, GIRLS DOMINATE M-E INVITE (2022-10-01)

MAINE — Jace Stuart won the boys varsity race and Jaelyn Chrysler was the runner-up in the girls equivalent as Owego dominated both events at the Maine-Endwell Cross Country Invitational here Friday.

BOYS
The Indians scored 33 points to outdistance Chenango Valley, which had 78 points, in a field of 19 teams.

Stuart crossed the finish line with a time of 16:56, making him the only competitor to run a sub-17-minute time.

Owego had three other runners finish in the top seven. Magavin Allen was fourth (17:39), Sullivan O’Donnell sixth (17:46) and Noah Heath seventh (17:48). Gavin Heath rounded out the team scoring, placing 16th (18:22).

Also competing for the Indians were Dawson Bell (27th, 19:18), Hunter Pitcher (28th, 19:25), Christian Hodges (31st, 19:45), Daniel Pawlak (32nd, 19:47), Javon Belokur (33rd, 19:48), Luke Saunders (45th, 20:37), Sam Cunningham (49th, 20:58), Nick Brown (53rd, 21:25), Matt Springsteen 66th (22:25), Max Thompson (83rd, 24:11), Maverick Pierce (87th, 24:18) and Ephram Doty (105th, 32:32).

GIRLS
Owego bested the field, most of which had incomplete teams, with 31 points. Maine-Endwell was second with 66 points and Newark valley took third with 73.

Chrysler posted a time of 19:19, trailing only Susquehanna Valley standout Brynn Hogan, who clocked 19:07.

The Indians’ other top-10 finishers included Abby Fahey (4th, 20:46), LilyMay Wheeland (7th, 21:43), and Abbigail McHugh (10th, 22:09). Cameron Pichany finished up the team scoring (14th, 22:52).

Owego’s other runners included Lilliana LaFever (15th, 22:55), Alex Senko (16th, 23:00), Madison Webb (17th, 23:00), Abigail Luke (19th, 23:03), Emily Dodge (38th, 27:22), Sydney Senko (40th, 27:27), Nora Schuyler (42nd, 28:17),Geneveive Robinson (50th, 30:38), Ryleigh Williams (51st, 30:40) and Eleanora Palmer (53rd, 32:36).

Next up for the Indians is the Bob Greene Invitational at Newark Valley Thursday.
