HIGH SCHOOL DIVING: OWEGO’S KATCHUK WINS LADY YETI CLASSIC (2022-10-01)

WEBSTER, N.Y. — Owego diving standout Kaelyn Katchuk won the tightly-contested Lady Yeti Classic Dive Invitational held at the Webster Aquatic Center here Friday night.

This Section V area contest saw the sophomore entangled in a 3-way battle with top-ranked divers from Brighton High School and Pittsford Central School.

“This was a real knife fight. Kaelyn was in second place by less than one point the entire meet and ended up besting senior Cecillia Hanuch of Brighton, 451.30 to 450.85, on the last dive,” stated Owego diving coach Roger Katchuk.

Third-place finisher Jamie Kotalik of Pittsford pressured the top two the entire meet, scoring 449.75 points.

All three divers surpassed the New York state meet qualifying mark of 440 points.

The Webster Aquatic Center will host the 2022 NYS Girls Swimming and Diving Championships Nov. 18-19.
