IAC BOYS SOCCER: SVEC CHALKS UP 10TH VICTORY (2022-09-29)

WAVERLY — The SVEC boys soccer team recorded its 10th victory of the season here Thursday, defeating Waverly, 4-1, in IAC South Large School action.

The Wolverines put the visitors behind, 1-0, in the third minute of play on a Griff Schillmoeller goal and would hold the lead until Jacob Banks tied things up in the 18th minute.

Jason Jantz would put the Eagles on top with a goal in the 36th minute and the lead would remain 2-1 until Banks put together a hat trick late in the contest. He scored in the 74th and 79th minutes.

SVEC outshot Waverly, 18-3, and held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Kody Goble made two saves for the Eagles while Aiden Doherty produced 14 for Waverly.

SVEC (10-1) heads to Harpursville Saturday afternoon to take on Afton / Harpursville. The Eagles jumped from No. 17 to No. 6 in this week’s Class C rankings while A/H slipped from No. 4 to No. 10 after suffering its first loss.
