IAC VOLLEYBALL: CANDOR FALLS IN 5-SET BATTLE WITH EDISON (2022-09-29)

CANDOR — Candor closed out a three-match homestand with a 3-2 loss to Edison in IAC volleyball crossover action Thursday.
The Indians dropped the opening set, 25-14, but bounced back to eke out a 26-24 win in the second. The two teams split a pair of 25-22 verdicts with Candor taking the latter to force a fifth game. Edison squeaked out a 15-13 victory in that one to claim the match.
Phoebe Swartz recorded a double-double with 29 assists, 12 digs, one block and one block assist. Kate Stouffer contributed 11 service points, including two aces; Janelle Marsh registered seven service points, five kills and seven digs.
Grace Handy had seven service points, four aces, nine kills, one block and six digs; Nicola Soper added nine service points, four aces and 13 kills; Luci Ray chipped in with seven service points, three blocks, and one block assist; and Rosie Hurd tacked on 17 digs.
For Edison, Gabby Milazzo had 25 digs and four aces; Kailey Ripley added 15 digs, one kill and six aces; Emma Maggs contributed 11 digs, four kills and one ace; and
Charlee Stronman added 12 digs and three kills.
The Spartans improved to 5-2 and the Indians slipped to 4-4 (4-3 division).
Candor visits division-leading Tioga Monday.

Jill Teribury had eight aces, two kills and three assists for Candor; Ryleigh Bowman added two aces and one kill; Emmi Makie had three aces, two kills and one block; and Malley Heidl chipped in with two assists.
