CANDOR — SVEC built a two-goal halftime lead, then endured a 30-minute weather delay and a determined Elmira Notre Dame team to post a 3-2 victory in IAC South Large School boys soccer action here Monday.
Addison Young and Jason Jantz led the way, each player scoring a goal and dishing out an assist. Jacob Banks accounted for the other goal.
Jose Neto scored the Crusaders’ first-half goal with Guilherme Toigo getting the assist.
Toigo added a penalty kick in the first 10 minutes of the second half to make it a 2-1 contest.
The Eagles took 15 shots to ND’s 8 and held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Kody Goble made two saves for SVEC and Jackson Potter had six for ND.
SVEC (9-1) visits Waverly (6-3) Thursday.
