STAC GIRLS SWIMMING & DIVING: OWEGO WINS 8 OF 11 EVENTS IN COMPETITIVE SHOWING AGAINST WINDSOR

WINDSOR — Owego put up a valiant fight, but just didn’t have the depth and experience to overcome Windsor in girls swimming and diving here Tuesday evening.
The Indians won eight of the 11 events they entered, but the Black Knights emerged with a 93-71 STAC victory.
Windsor had 13 swimmers, six of them seniors. Owego has one senior on its roster of nine, three of whom are divers.
Madison Allen and Olivia Schrader were quadruple winners while Ava Murphy placed first in three events. Charlotte Kozak, Isabelle Taylor and Katelyn Katchuk won one event each.
Allen, Schrader, Murphy and Kozak won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:31.47 while Schrader, Taylor, Allen and Murphy captured the 200 freestyle relay in 2:13.06.
Allen added individual victories in the 100 free (1:17.22) and the 200 free (2:44.71).
Scharder’s two individual wins came in the 200 individual medley (2:48.08) and the 100 backstroke (1:16.12).
Murphy won the 100 butterfly (1:12.35) while Katchuk again dominated the diving competition with 252.7 points.
Sydney Shoen was a runner-up in the 50 free (:38.74). Kozak took third in the 50 free (:39.74) and 500 free (8:32.81) and Ayla Young claimed third in diving (172.55 points).
Owego will compete at the Invitational In the Glen at Watkins Glen Friday and Saturday.
