IAC VOLLEYBALL: S-VE TURNS AWAY NEWARK VALLEY FOR 3-0 WIN (2022-09-19)

NEWARK VALLEY — S-VE turned away a pesky Newark Valley team to post a 3-0 IAC volleyball victory here Monday.

The Panthers controlled the first set, 25-12, but had to battle through closely-contested 25-22 and 25-23 scores in the next two sets to seal the deal.

Kaili Root had 11 service points, three aces and one dig for S-VE; Marah Cooper had 10 service points, including three aces, and also had two digs, five kills and one block.

Cecelia Churey had nine service points, four of them aces, as well as two digs and eight assists; Lilyanah Doolittle had nine service points, two kills and three blocks; and Jacqueline Brown had six digs and a kill.

For NV, Kalyna Graham tallied six kills, an assist and a dig; Jasmine Graham had four kills and five digs; Michael Medina posted four aces, five digs, a kill and an assist; and Jenna Hanson handed out seven assists and also had seven digs.

Rosie Wandell chipped in with three aces and three assists; Matthew Kasper had two kills and two digs; Rae Mathewson pitched in with an ace and two assists; Laura Ludwig notched two aces; Leah Austin-Whitaker and Rachel Parisot added one kill apiece; and Joslyn Wright tacked on a dig.

On Wednesday, S-VE (3-1) hosts Tioga while NV (0-3) travels to Newfield.

JV: S-VE defeated Newark Valley, 3-0.
