SPENCER — SVEC quarterback Jacek Teribury scored five touchdowns to lead the Eagles to a 48-26 victory over Sidney in Section IV football action here Friday evening.

“He’s getting better and better,” SVEC coach Mike Chaffee said. “He got pretty busy. He's patient. He played huge for us tonight.”

SVEC’s first TD came courtesy of a 42-yard run by Pavel Jofre. Teribury ran for the PAT and an 8-0 lead.

Dylan Easton scored on a 10-yard run for the Warriors, but the PAT kick failed, leaving SVEC in front, 8-6.

Teribury’s first score came on a 34-yard jaunt, but the PAT run failed, making it a 14-6 ball game.

Sidney responded with a 48-yard Easton-to-Logan Russo TD strike. Easton connected with Connor van der Sommen for the PAT to knot the score at 14 apiece.

The Eagles countered with a 55-yard TD run by Teribury with 1:27 left in the first period. The QB converted the PAT run to make it 22-14 heading into the second quarter.

Easton and Trevor Harrington hooked up for a 3-yard TD toss, but the PAT pass was no good and SVEC was left clinging to a 22-20 advantage.

Teribury’s 3-yard keeper at 1:26 of the second quarter made it 28-20 at halftime as the PAT attempt failed.

With 4:43 remaining in the third, Teribury tallied from eight yards out, pushing the home team’s lead to 34-20.

The Eagles would put the game away with two TDs in the fourth quarter.

Teribury notched his final TD, a 24-yard run, with 7:25 on the clock to double up the score at 40-20.

With 2:28 to go, Kameron Smith scored on a 29-yard run and Shane Neal legged in the PAT to seal the deal at 48-20.

Sidney’s Corbin Cash added a 3-yard TD run with two seconds on the clock to make it a 48-26 final.

Teribury rushed for 158 yards on 12 carries and Jofre ran the rock 12 times for 126 more. Karson Kenville tacked on 30 yards on six carries, Smith ran twice for 25 and Cyrus Toyryla toted twice for another 11. Teribury went 2-for-3 passing for 13 yards, both to Hunter Harmon.

Shane Neal contributed a 71-yard kickoff return while Jofre led the Eagles with nine tackles and John Johnston added 6 ½ tackles.

For Sidney, Easton ran for 92 yards on 13 carries and went 8-for-22 passing for 97 yards with one interception, by Harmon.

SVEC (1-2) travels to Walton next Saturday.
