COLLEGE CROSS COUNTRY / TRACK & FIELD: OWEGO GRAD BOWERS HEADS INTO SENIOR SEASON WELL-DECORATED (2022-08-17)

ROCHESTER — Owego grad Nate Bowers heads into his senior year at Nazareth College well-decorated from the 2021-22 cross country, and indoor and outdoor track & field seasons.

As a junior, he was named the Empire 8 Conference Track Athlete of the Year following a season in which he won conference titles in both the 5,000- and 10,000-meter runs.

He set an E8 championship meet record in winning the 10,000 with a time of 32:26.29. He also set school records — 15:08.37 in the 5,000 and 32:19.70 in the 10,000 — earlier in the season.

Bowers was named to the E8 second team in the mile, the 3,000 and the 5,000 during the indoor season. He had three second-place finishes in the mile (4:27.15), the 3,000-meter run (8:52.33) and the 5,000-meter run (15:41.49).

In cross country, he was the Golden Flyers' top runner as he finished second at the E8 meet and 18th at the NCAA Niagara Regional. Bowers was also named the Nazareth's representative as E8 Sportsman of the Year.
