EASTON, Mass. — Former Newark Valley standout Emma Graves will begin her sophomore season at Stonehill College.

As a freshman she saw action in all 28 matches for Eastern Nazarene College, which went 17-11. Graves averaged 3.19 kills per set while playing 94 sets. She also averaged four points and 0.99 blocks per set.

After the season, she decided to take her talents to another level and transferred to Stonehill, an NCAA Division I program.

"I transferred because I wanted a higher level of volleyball at a bigger school," she said.

t Eastern Nazarene, Graves received an All-New England honorable mention from the New England Women's Volleyball Association. A four-time NECC Rookie of the Week, Graves garnered All-NECC accolades this season, ranked third in the conference with 300 kills and paced the NECC with 93 blocks.

Eastern Nazarene swept Mitchell, 3-0, and defeated New England College, 3-1, to win the NECC tournament before bowing, 3-0, to MIT in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Stonehill begins the season Aug. 26 at the UNC Asheville Invitational.
