LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL: OWEGO ROBINSON DOWNS VESTAL, MOVES ON TO CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND AT OWEGO 10U TOURNAMENT (2022-07-24)

OWEGO — Owego Robinson trailed by a run briefly, then rallied to defeat Vestal, 7-4, Friday to move on to the “C” Division championship round of the Owego Little League 10U Tournament at Hyde Park.

Remmington Morgan drove in Austin Gregory with a triple, then Jaxson Weaver and Theodore Robinson delivered run-scoring singles to give Owego a 3-1 lead.

Weaver nailed an inside-the-park home run in the third, also scoring Morgan to make it 5-2.

Gregory plated Nolan Whigham with a triple in the fourth and Robinson stole three bases in the sixth to make it 7-4.

Vestal twice pulled within a run, but could never push a game-tying run across.

Weaver went 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI while Gregory and Robinson both went 2-for-3 with a run and RBI. Morgan had a hit, two runs and an RBI; and Whigham scored a run.

Gregory and Maxx Thole pitched three innings apiece, each striking three and allowing two runs.
