LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL: OWEGO RUSSELL TURNS BACK U-E AT OWEGO 12U TOURNAMENT

OWEGO — More than 40 runs went up on the scoreboard in the Owego Little League 12U Tournament “C” Division game between Owego Russell and Union-Endicott Golden at Hyde Park here Monday.
When all was said and done the Owego squad managed to squeak out a 22-21 winner’s bracket victory.
Owego built a 14-6 advantage after one inning of play. At the end of two, the team would lead by a 22-18 score. The Russell team managed to hold off U-E down the stretch.
Landon Bocasini, Sullivan Morgan, Lincoln Miller and Evan Canfield scored two runs apiece in the first inning, and each added another run in the second.
Jackson Barrows, Trace Hall, Logan Rose and Finnigan Morgan all tallied once in the first and once in the second.
Scott Reigle and Anthony Neumuth got in on the early scoring, scoring a run in the first and second, respectively.
Every Owego player contributed at least one hit and one run. Bocasini and Canfield led the way with Bocasini going 3-for-4 with a double while Canfield smacked a trio of doubles. Barrows had a home run and a walk, Hall added a triple and a single and Miller chipped in with a pair of singles.
Sullivan Morgan recorded a triple and two walks, Rose helped out with a triple and a walk, and Neumuth, Reigle and Finnigan Morgan tacked on one single apiece.
Owego, 4-0 for the tournament, faces Trumansburg (3-1) Thursday at 5:30 p.m. The winner of that game heads to the championship round Sunday morning.
