The Sports Reports
Baseball is alive and well in the Twin Tiers as evidenced by the vast amount of talent on The Sports Reports’ inaugural All-Region team.

Notre Dame senior Owen Stewart, who will play at Division I George Mason, had a near-perfect season on the mound, and also hit better than .400. He is The Sports Reports’ 2022 All-Region  “Player of the Year.

Sayre’s Brayden Horton, who will play at Division I Liberty, put together one of the best offensive seasons in recent memory, and is the “Offensive Player of the Year,” while North Penn-Mansfield freshman Alex Davis was tabbed the “Newcomer of the Year,” Wellsboro senior Cameron Brought is the “Defensive Player of the Year,” and Horseheads skipper Jeff Limoncelli is the “Coach of the Year.”

Stewart posted a 7-0 record with a minuscule 0.12 ERA. He allowed just one earned run in 59 1/3 innings, while striking out 134 and walking 22. He gave up just 14 hits, and opponents hit .069 against him.

Stewart threw four no-hitters on the season, and recorded a 20-strikeout game in a no-hitter against Newark Valley in the Section IV, Class C quarterfinals.

At the plate, Stewart hit .426 with 26 hits, four doubles, two triples, a home run and 12 RBI on the season.

Horton  hit .509 (28 hits in 55 ABs) with 40 runs scored, seven doubles, four triples, six home runs, and 33 RBI.

He walked 25 times (and struck out just six times) and was hit by a pitch nine times for a .674 on-base percentage. He had a slugging percentage of 1.109, and a staggering OPS of 1.783.

A slick-fielding first baseman, Brought was perfect in the field this season, handling 101 defensive chances without an error.

Davis had a .438 batting average, .509 on-base-percentage, 21 hits, 10 doubles, one home run, 17 runs scored, 24 RBI, 11 stolen bases, five walks. He also went 1-1 on the mound, throwing 13 innings with a 3.23 ERA and eight K’s.

Limoncelli led the Blue Raiders to a remarkable season. They traveled to Myrtle Beach, and faced some of the best teams in the state. After returning, they didn’t lose another game until regionals.

After losing the second game of the season to Corning the Blue Raiders didn’t lose another game in Section 4 all season, winning the STAC West Division title, the STAC Championship and the Section 4 Championship.

FIRST TEAM
Catcher
Brayden Horton, senior, Sayre:
(See offensive numbers above.) A slick-fielding catcher with a strong arm, teams only attempted six stolen bases against him on the season. He threw out one runner attempting to steal, and picked three off the bases.

So valued behind the plate, Horton only appeared on the mound once this season. He threw five shutout innings for the win, striking out 11, walking two and allowing just two hits.

First Base
Cameron Brought, junior, Wellsboro:
A slick-fielding first baseman (see above), Brought hit .484 with 30 hits, including three doubles, and had 28 RBI and 22 runs scored. He also walked 13 times and posted a .595 on-base percentage.

Second Base
Ben Rhode, sophomore, Elmira:
Rhode hit .410, with 22 runs, a school-record 21 stolen bases, and 15 RBI.

Shortstop
Landon Burch, senior Corning:
A top-notch defender at short, Burch hit .417 with nine doubles, four home runs, and 28 RBI. He struck out just five times, and walked 11.

Third Base
Darryn Callahan, senior, Wellsboro:
Callahan hit .419 (26 hits in 62 ABs) with six doubles, six triples, two home runs, 27 RBI, and 32 runs scored. He also walked 15 times and had a .537 on-base percentage, an .806 slugging percentage, and an OPS of 1.343.

Infield
Matt Procopio  senior, Horseheads:
A slick-fielding shortstop, Procopio hit .395 with 19 RBI.

Outfield
Riley Loomis, senior, Horseheads:
Loomis hit .475, with eight extra base hits and 12 stolen bases.

Jake Bryun, senior, Wyalusing: Bruyn hit .483 with seven doubles, 15 RBI, and 24 runs scored.

Lucas Horton, junior, Sayre:
Horton hit .467 (28 hits in 60 ABs) with 35 runs scored, six doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 33 RBI. He walked 27 times and was hit by pitches twice for an on-base percentage of .620. He also had a .733 slugging percentage for an OPS of 1.353.

Utility
Kory Schucker, junior, Troy:
Schucker hit .397 (25 hits in 63 Abs) with eight doubles, one triple, two home runs, 10 RBI, 22 runs scored, and two stolen bases.

Designated Hitter
Mikey Wandell, senior, Newark Valley:
Wandell batted .563 (31-for-55) with nine doubles, two home runs and a triple. He also drove in 28 runs.

Pitchers

Landon Burch, senior, Corning: Burch, who will play at Division I Old Dominion, had a .86 ERA on the mound with a 4-0 mark and 48 strikeouts in 24 innings.

Blake Morningstar, junior, Wyalusing: Morningstar posted a 1.249 ERA with 129 strikeouts to just 20 walks in 61 2/3-innings.

Lucas Horton, junior, Sayre: Horton posted a 6-0 record with a 0.83 ERA. He fanned 67 and walked 13 in 42 1/3 innings, allowing only 33 hits. Opponents hit .200 against him.

Catcher
Mikey Sipps, senior, Cowanesque Valley:
Sipps hit .476 with 30 hits, including seven doubles, one triple, two home runs, and 19 RBI. He also scored 25 runs and stole 21 bases. He walked 13 times and had a .598 on-base percentage.

First Base
Kannon VanDuzer, senior, Sayre:
VanDuzer hit .333 (22 hits in 66 ABs) with 17 runs scored, five doubles, one triple, one home run, and 31 RBI. He also walked 14 times and was hit by pitches four times for a .424 on-base percentage, and had a .908 OPS.

Second Base
Jackson Hubbard, junior, Sayre:
Hubbard hit .386 (22 hits in 57 ABs) with 20 runs scored, four doubles, four home runs, and 30 RBI.  He also walked 13 times for an on-base percentage of .507, with a slugging percentage of 1.174 OPS.

Alex Davis, freshman, North Penn-Mansfield:

Third Base
Karter Rude, senior, Athens:
Rude hit .372 (29 hits in 78 ABs) with 24 runs scored, 10 doubles, one triple, seven RBI, and 20 stolen bases. He had a .526 slugging percentage, and an OPS of .916.

Infield
Conner Adams, junior, Wellsboro:
Adams hit .394 with 26 hits, including five doubles, one triple, 23 runs scored, 17 RBI, and 16 stolen bases.

Outfield
Gabe Kaufman,  senior, Williamson:
  Kaufman hit .441 with 26 hits, including six doubles, three triples, two home runs, 27 RBI, and 21 runs scored. He had a .507 on-base percentage.

David Northrup, senior, Sayre: Northrup hit .417 (25 hits in 60 ABs) with 28 runs scored, three doubles, one triple, one home run, and 31 RBI. He also walked 19 times and was hit by pitches four times for an on-base-percentage of .578, and an OPS of 1.128.

Kevin VanDeMark, senior, Wyalusing:
VanDerMark hit .400, with four doubles, one triple, two home runs, 21 RBI, and 22 runs scored.

Utility
Karson Dominick, sophomore, NP-Mansfield:
Dominick played six different positions, including catcher and center field. He hit .396, with 19 hits, including two doubles, one home run, seven RBI, 18 runs scored, and six stolen bases. He had a .455 on-base percentage.

Designated Hitter
Ty Beeman, junior, Waverly:
Beeman hit .388 (26 hits in 67 ABs) with 17 runs scored, three doubles, one triple, three home runs, 27 RBI and five stolen bases. He also had 12 walks for a .470 on-base percentage, a .597 slugging percentage, and a 1.047 OPS.

Pitchers
Dylan Swartwood, senior, Edison:
Swartwood was 4-1 on the year with a 1.55 ERA and 47 strikeouts in 32 innings.

Jay Pipher, sophomore, Waverly: Pipher was was 4-2 with a 0.88 ERA. He struck out 52 in 40 innings, and opponents hit .122 against him.

Cameron Sullivan, junior, Athens:
Sullivan posted a 3-0 record with one save and a 1.12 ERA. He fanned 44 and walked 11 in 31 1/3 innings, with opponents batting .240 against him.

Mikey Wandell, senior, Newark Valley: Wandell struck out 96 batters in 38 ⅔ innings and posted a 0.94 ERA. He posted a 3-2 record and tallied double-digit Ks six times.

Caden Smith, sophomore, Wellsboro:
Smith hit .457 with 32 hits, including two doubles, and one triple, 30 runs scored, 19 RBI, and nine stolen bases. He waked 10 times and had a .525 on-base percentage.

First Base

Stewart hit .426 with 26 hits, four doubles, two triples, a home run and 12 RBI.

Second Base
Jay Pipher, sophomore, Waverly:
Pipher hit .358 (24 hits in 67 ABs) with 23 runs scored, two doubles, one triple, 19 RBI, and 12 stolen bases. He walked 15 times and was hit by four pitches for a .500 on-base percentage, and a .918 OPS.

Shortstop
Zach Garrity, junior, Sayre:
Garrity hit .406 (28 hits in 69 ABs) with 42 runs scored, 12 doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 23 RBI. He walked 20 times and was hit by pitches three times for a .554 on-base percentage, had a slugging percentage of .725 and an OPS of 1.279.

Third Base
Loagan Stickler, freshman, Williamson: 
Stickler hit .424 with 25 hits, including six doubles, one triple, and one home run, 14 RBI, and 16 runs scored.

Infield
Tucker St. Peter, senior, Cowanesque Valley:
  St. Peter hit .362 with 25 hits, including four doubles, two home runs, 17 RBI, 30 runs scored, and 42 stolen bases. He had a .476 on-base percentage.

Outfield
Bryce Bailey, junior, Waverly:
Bailey hit . 386 (27 hits in 70 ABs) with 19 runs scored, six doubles, one triple, 13 RBI, and three stolen bases.  He had just three walks, but was hit by pitches 10 times for a .482 on-base percentage. He had a .500 slugging percentage an a .982 OPS.

Lucas Granger, senior,  Horseheads: Granger hit .344 and stole 11 bases, while being one of the best defensive outfielders in the region.

Ethan English, senior, Owego: English hit .321, with 17 hits, including four doubles, 14 RBI, 12 runs scored, and nine stolen bases.

Utility
Dan Schofield, senior, Owego:
Played six different positions … Schofield hit .346 with 20 hits, four doubles, one triple, 10 RBI, and 17 stolen bases.

Designated Hitter
Robert English, senior, Wyalusing:
English hit .379, with four doubles, 17 RBI,  and 17 runs scored.

Pitchers
Bryce Mashanic, sophomore, Elmira:
Mashanic was 4-2 on the year with a 2.80 ERA and 50 strikeouts in 39 innings.

Dylan Ribble, sophomore, Horseheads: Ribble was 4-0 with a 1.56 ERA on the year.

Kannon VanDuzer, senior, Sayre: VanDuzer posted a 5-1 record with one save and a 1.66 ERA. He fanned 47 and walked 13 in 33 2/3 innings, allowing 25 hits. Opponents hit .184 against him.

Gavin Hardee, sophomore, Corning: Hardee had three wins and two saves on the year, with a 0.58 ERA in 19 innings. He fanned 24.

Clay Wiggins, sophomore, NEB:
Wiggins hit .346, with two doubles, 13 RBI, and 23 runs scored.

Trevor Morrell, senior, Elmira:
Morrell hit .342 with 25 RBI, 12 stolen bases, seven doubles and two home runs.

Jaren Glisson, junior, Athens:
Glisson hit .300 (18 hits in 60 ABs) with 14 runs scored, 12 stolen bases, six doubles, one triple, and 11 RBI.

Derek Litzelman, junior, NP-Mansfield: Litzelman hit 388 BA, with 19 hits, 14 runs,  one home run, and seven RBI.

Dylan Abernathy, senior, Wellsboro: Abernathy hit .354 with 17 hits, including four doubles, 19 runs scored, nine RBI, and six stolen bases. He walked eight times and had a .446 on-base percentage.

Utility
Kade Sottolano, senior, Cowanesque Valley:
He played four positions …  and hit .339, with five doubles, two home runs, 23 RBI. He had a .459 on-base percentage, and struck out just twice all season.

Cam Fabian, senior, NP-Mansfield:
  Fabian hit .380 with 19 hits, including two doubles, 15 runs, five RBI, and 10 stolen bases.

Pitchers
David Northrup, senior, Sayre:
Northrup was 5-2 with a 2.33 ERA. He fans 37 and walked 17 in 30 innings, allowing 21 hits, with opponents hitting .186 against him.

Ethan Perry, sophomore, Tioga: Perry was 4-1 with a 2.77 ERA, and 53 strikeouts in 35 1/3 innings.

Mason Lister, junior, Athens:
Lister posted a 3-3 record with a 2.75 ERA, and opponents hit .194 against him. He fanned 45 in 35 2/3 innings.

Aidan Chamberlin, senior, Corning:
Chamberlain was 2-2 with 32 strikeouts in 22 innings and a 3.45 ERA.

Drew Macumber, sophomore, Tioga: Macumber hit .345 (19 hits in 55 ABs) with 17 runs scored, six doubles, 13 RBI, and 15 stolen bases. On the mound, he was 2-1 with a 2.18 ERA, and  21 strikeouts in 16 innings pitched.

Shea Bailey, 8th-grader, Tioga: Bailey  hit .339 (21 hits in 62 ABs) with 23 runs scored, four doubles, 14 RBI, and 25 stolen bases. He also walked 11 times for a .461 on-base percentage.
