SECTION IV TRACK & FIELD: S-VE’S WALTER EARNS GOLD, SILVER AT STATE QUALIFIER (2022-06-02)

ENDICOTT — S-VE’s Elliott Walter dominated the discus throw on the first day of the Section IV Track & Field State Qualifier at Ty Cobb Stadium here, but official results were not posted until day two so he had to wait until Thursday to become the champion.

He would also capture runner-up honors in the shot put on day two.

Walter launched the discus 145-3, more than six feet farther than his nearest competitor.

In the shot, he had a heave 45-3 ¾. Oneonta’s DJ Turley, who had barely reached 46 feet heading into the meet, landed the shot 48-8 ½ to take the top spot.

Karson Kenville, who was seventh in the 110-meter hurdles after Wednesday’s preliminaries, placed sixth in Thursday’s finals in 17.25 seconds. He placed fifth among Division II competitors.

Tyler Stahl, who had to wait a day to run the 400 hurdles when his heat was postponed due to a severe thunderstorm on day one. He won his heat and placed 11th overall (seventh in D-2) with a time of 1:03.79, a personal record.

Demi Mouillesseaux was the Panthers’ top female, placing 13th in the triple jump with a leap of 30-7 ¾.

John Garrison posted a PR of 4:48.96 in the 1600. Although he finished 16th overall, he took fifth among Division II runners.

The foursome of Josh Menter, Michael Connor, Tyler Doster and Tyler Stahl were 16th in the 4x400 relay.
