NEWFIELD — Anna Greeno twirled a one-hit shutout in the first game and belted a home run in the second as Candor swept a doubleheader from Newfield in IAC South Small School softball action here Thursday.

CANDOR 11, NEWFIELD 0
The Indians scored three runs in the first inning, another in the second, two more in the third, and then put the game away with five runs in the top of the fourth.

Shelby Swartz went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBI; Isabel Makie went 3-for-3 with one run and two RBI; Chloe White was 2-for-3; Jill Holmes was 1-for-2 with one run and a sacrifice; and Greeno was 1-for-3 with a double, two runs and one RBI.

Greeno walked one batter and struck out seven.

CANDOR 13, NEWFIELD 1
Playing as the home team, Candor plated five runs in the first inning and tacked on a half-dozen more in the second.

Makie was 2-for-2 with two runs; Holmes went 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and three RBI; Greeno was 1-for-2 with a homer, two runs and two RBI; Addie Aman went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs; and Sierra Schweiger was 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Greeno scattered seven hits and a walk, and fanned four batters.

Candor hosts Newark Valley Friday.
