IAC SOFTBALL: S-VE FENDS OFF CANDOR FOR DIVISIONAL WIN (2022-05-03)

CANDOR — S-VE worked its way out of an early hole to defeat Candor, 12-3, in IAC South Small School softball action here Tuesday.

Addie Aman was hit by a pitch and eventually scored the game’s initial run in the bottom of the first inning.

In the second, Phoebe Swartz reached on a fielder’s choice, Ryleigh Bowman singled, and both base runners scored to make it a 3-0 game.

The Panthers would get it in gear in the third as Faith Brenchley scored on a Raegan Sudnikovich double.

In the fourth, Sydney Presher and Rhiana Lawrence reached base on error, then Sudnikovich belted a home run to give S-VE a 4-3 edge.

Lawrence and Brenchley drove in two runs apiece in the fifth, and Hannah Martinez, Gillian Jackman, Pressure, Adrienna Farmer and and Lawrence all scored, giving the visitors a 9-3 advantage.

S-VE added three insurance runs in the seventh with Brenchley, Sudnikovich and Katelyn Klym scoring.

Aman went 2-for-4 with one run, Isabel Makie was 2-for-3 with two RBI, Ryleigh Bowman went 2-for-3 with one run. The Panthers finished with 14 hits. Sudnikovich went 3-for-5 with two runs while Brenchley and Sydney Presher both went 2-for-4 with two runs each.

Lawrence scattered five hits and three walks, striking out 10, to pick up the win in the circle.

Anna Greeno fanned five and did not give up a walk.

On Wednesday, Candor hosts Waverly and S-VE hosts Newfield.
