IAC SOFTBALL: S-VE GETS BACK ON TRACK, BLANKS NEWARK VALLEY (2022-05-03)

Tioga County Sports Report
NEWARK VALLEY — S-VE bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 16-0, 5-inning victory over Newark Valley in IAC softball action here Monday.

The Panthers wasted little time finding their groove, scoring five runs in the top of the first inning.

Following a walk and a hit batter, Katelyn Klym smacked a two-run single to give S-VE the advantage. Gillian Jackman followed a walk with an RBI single and Adrienna Farmer followed a walk with a two-run single.

Rhiana Lawrence retired the first six Cardinal batters before Joslyn Wright reached base after being hit by a pitch in the third. A walk and a Rachael Walker double put two runners in scoring position, but they were unable to advance.

Meanwhile, base hits by Raegan Sudnikovich and Klym, and an error off the bat of Hannah Martinez provided two more runs in the second.

A walk, singles by Lawrence and Sudnikovich, and a Klym sacrifice fly pushed the S-VE advantage to 9-0 after three.

The Panthers erupted for seven fourth-inning runs. A Smith single, a Sydney Presher RBI single, three consecutive errors, a Klym RBI double and a Martinez single highlighted the surge.

Klym paced S-VE with a 3-for-3 day at the plate, scoring three runs and driving in four more.

Lawrence finished with a one-hitter, striking out five, walking one and hitting one batter,

Wright recorded six strikeouts for NV, giving up eight hits, four walks and one hit batter.

S-VE visits Candor today while NV hosts Odessa-Montour Wednesday.
