ONEONTA — Owego won its third straight game with an 18-2 STAC softball victory over Oneonta here Monday.

Lauren Gilbert pitched another gem, striking out 12 over six innings while allowing only three hits and one walk.

The Indians pounded out 20 hits, including triples from Lauren Gilbert and Carly Kirtland. Gilbert had three hits and two RBI, and Kirtland added three runs and one RBI.

Layla Etienne, Chelsea Rollison and Sarah Terry contributed three hits apiece. Rollison added three runs and two RBI while Terry had two runs and three RBI. Etienne tacked on two runs and an RBI.

“Layla Etienne also got into the act with some outstanding defense, making a diving catch in centerfield in the first inning, stealing a base hit from the Yellowjackets,” coach Brent Doane said.

Owego scored three runs in the top of the second and added another in the third.

The Indians wrapped a pair of six-run innings around two fifth inning runs to pull away.

Natalie Donovan chipped in with two hits, three ryan and an RBI, Sophia Palladino had a hit, two runs and two RBI, Alex Aubel had a hit, run and RBI, and Brooklyn Gaurnier scored two runs and drove in two runs, and Ava Brown had two hits and an RBI.

Owego (5-3) hosts Norwich Friday.
